Perfusionists interact with surgeons and other healthcare personnel to select and operate the appropriate equipment needed for surgical procedures such as CHEMOSAT®. During the CHEMOSAT® procedure the perfusionist carefully monitors circulatory and metabolic parameters such as blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate and blood gases.
PRIMARY LIVER CANCER:
Cancer that starts in the liver (for example: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and cholangiocarcinoma (CCC)).
Radiation therapy or radiotherapy, is a therapy generally used as part of cancer treatment to control or kill malignant cells. Radiation therapy uses high-energy radiation to shrink tumours and kill cancer cells. Radiation therapy may be curative in a number of types of cancer if they are localised to one area of the body.

Tumour embolisation is a procedure to shut down the blood supply to cancer cells in order to promote their reduction or complete cell death. Embolization is a procedure that injects substances to try to block or reduce the blood flow to cancer cells in the liver.
